Man, 70s, dies in single-vehicle Meath crash

Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses.

A man in his 70s has died in a single-vehicle crash in Co Meath. 

Gardaí and emergency services personnel attended the scene of the collision, which happened on the L2226 in Ballinderry at approximately 5am on Thursday.

The driver of the truck, a man aged in his 70s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

His body was later removed from the scene to hospital for an autopsy. No other injuries were reported.

The road was closed for a time to facilitate a technical examination of the scene, but it has since reopened.

Gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses.

Any road users with camera footage who were travelling in the area between 4.30am and 5.30am yesterday morning have been asked to make this footage available.
