Young man dies in single-vehicle crash in Laois in early morning hours

A young man has died following a single-vehicle collision in Co Laois in the early hours of this morning.
The fatal crash occurred at Ballaghmore in Borris-in-Ossory.
Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the incident on the R445 at approximately 3.15am.
The driver and sole occupant of the car, a man in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His body has been taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Portlaoise, where an autopsy will be carried out. The local coroner has been informed.
A garda spokesperson said: "The road remains closed this morning for examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place."
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash cam) from the area between 3am and 3.30am are asked to make it available to gardaí.
