Motorcyclist, 40s, dies in single-vehicle crash in Mayo

A motorcyclist has been killed in a single-vehicle crash in Co Mayo.
Gardaí and emergency services personnel attended the scene of the collision, which happened shortly after 7.40pm on Tuesday on the R331 at Friarsquarter East in Ballinrobe.
The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body has been conveyed to Mayo University Hospital where an autopsy will take place in due course.
The road where the crash took place was preserved for a time to facilitate a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, but it has since reopened.
Investigating gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses.
Any road users with camera footage who were travelling in the area between 7.30pm and 8.30pm on Tuesday evening are asked to make this footage available.
