Double child benefit among cost of living lump sum payments paid this week

Some €415 million is due to be paid out to those receiving Child Benefit, Fuel Allowance, Disability Support and Working Families payments. 

More than 1.3m people are set to receive four lump sum payments this week as part of the cost of living arrangements introduced in Budget 2025. 

Some €415m is due to be paid out to those receiving Child Benefit, Fuel Allowance, Disability Support and Working Families payments this week. 

These supports are part of a total of 10 lump sum payments due to be paid before Christmas to support households across the country.

They will be made in addition to and on the same day that people receive their primary payment. 

Here are all the payments due to be paid this week: 

• Tuesday, November 5: Some 667,000 families are set to receive a double Child Benefit payment in respect of over 1.2m children. 
• Wednesday, November 6 to Friday, November 8: A €400 support payment will be paid to 213,00 people with disabilities (recipients of Disability Allowance, Invalidity Pension and Blind Pension).
• Thursday, November 7: A €400 lump sum Working Family Payment will be paid to 46,000 households. 
• Over 400,000 households will also receive a €300 Fuel Allowance payment. The payment day differs per recipient. 

Social Protection Minister, Heather Humphreys said the "payments being paid this week will be followed by five further lump sum payments over the coming weeks, including a €400 Carer’s Support Payment, a second double Child Benefit payment, and the Christmas Bonus payments in early December."

“This suite of lump sum payments means that people will have extra money in their pockets, which will ease the pressure and stress that many households are facing," she added.
