A murder investigation has been launched after a father-of-two was stabbed to death in Dublin on Sunday.
A post-mortem has been completed on the body of 34-year-old Mark Carroll, the results of which are not being released for operational reasons.
Gardaí continue to search for a convicted killer suspected of stabbing Mr Carroll.
A suspect was quickly identified who had previously been convicted of a fatal shooting. He had been released from prison last year.
A relative of Mr Carroll said they felt “numb” following his death in a tribute on social media.
It is understood that the men knew each other and an altercation may have broken out at a residence between the men before the fatal attack.
The fatal assault was not in Mr Carroll’s own home.
"Gardaí in Finglas are continuing to investigate all the circumstances surrounding the death of a man, 34-year-old Mark Carroll, following an incident in Finglas, Dublin 11, on Sunday," a garda statement said.

Gardaí and emergency services had attended a residence in the Scribblestown area shortly after 1am on Sunday where Mr Carroll was found with serious injuries.
Mr Carroll was treated at the scene before he was rushed by ambulance to Connolly Hospital. He was pronounced deceased there a short time later.
Gardaí continue to appeal to anyone who has any information on the murder of Mark Carroll to contact Finglas Garda Station on (01) 666 7500 , the Garda Confidential Line on (1800) 666 111 or any Garda Station.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward, particularly those who were in the Scribblestown area between midnight and 1.00am on Sunday, June 9th, 2024. Additionally, individuals with video recordings, including motorists with dash cams, from the area within the timeframe are asked to provide footage to investigating Gardaí.
