Four Justice Media Awards nominations for Irish Examiner journalists

The Law Society of Ireland published the shortlist out of a record-breaking 400 nominations.

There are four nominations for Irish Examiner journalists at this year’s Justice Media Awards.

The awards recognise outstanding print, broadcast, and online journalism that contributes to the public’s understanding of justice and the legal system.

The Law Society of Ireland published the list of those shortlisted out of a record-breaking 400 nominations.

Sean Murray’s Stardust Inquest reports were shortlisted in the Court Reporting (print/online) category.

Both Alison O’Reilly and Ann Murphy were shortlisted in the Human Rights/Social Justice reporting category.

Ms O’Reilly’s article Parole Board made us feel heard, say parents of gangland murder victim Jonathan O’Reilly, and Ms Murphy’s ‘The inadequacies of mental health care for children in care’ were shortlisted.

Jack White has been nominated in the Newcomer of the Year category.

The Echo received three nominations in two of the categories.

Both Donal O’Keeffe and Amy Power were shortlisted in the Print/Online (local) category.

Mr O’Keeffe’s ‘Did Ann’s death bring all the needed change?’ and Ms Power’s ‘Deering wants a level playing pitch’ earned their places in the category, while Amy Campbell is shortlisted in the Newcomer of the Year category.

The Justice Media Awards ceremony will take place at the Law Society on Thursday, June 20.
