HSE issues measles exposure alert to passengers from Ryanair flight
A Ryanair jet lands at Dublin Airport. Passengers on a flight from London last week have been warned of a measles exposure
The HSE has issued a measles exposure warning to passengers who were onboard a London Gatwick to Dublin flight last week.
People who were on the Ryanair flight FR123 from London Gatwick to Dublin on Thursday, May 16 at 8:10pm are asked to be “particularly vigilant” for symptoms until June 7, as the 21 days from exposure will expire.
The HSE said people who received two MMR vaccines or have previously been infected by measles or were born in Ireland before 1978 are probably immune, but should avoid contact with people who are pregnant, babies under 12 months old, and those with a weakened immune system.
Symptoms include cold-like feelings such as a runny nose, sneezing and a cough, red eyes, a temperature over 38C and a rash.
Last week, members of the public who attended parts of the emergency department at Cork University Hospital (CUH) or the Puffin Ward on certain days were warned they may have come into contact with measles.
