Revenue seize goods worth over €17,000 in Co Cork
Revenue has seized goods with a potential retail value of approximately €17,200 following the search of a house near Macroom, Co Cork.
During the search, assisted by Gardaí carried out under a search warrant, Revenue officers seized a car, alcohol, cigarettes, tobacco and cash.
A total of 315 litres of alcohol in various stages of production as well as production apparatus, tanks and containers were seized.
A car and 4,500 contraband cigarettes and 6.5kgs of tobacco were also seized.
The potential retail value of the alcohol, cigarettes and tobacco seized is approximately €17,200 with a potential loss to the Exchequer of over €12,100.
During the search, a cash amount of €6,295 was uncovered which is suspected to be the proceeds of, or intended for use in, criminal activity. The cash was detained in accordance with proceeds of crime legislation.
Two Polish nationals, a man in his 50s and a woman in her 30s, were interviews and investigations are ongoing with a view to prosecution.
