Woman found dead had been beaten, strangled

A young mother who was found dead in a vacant building in Cork City had been beaten about the head and strangled, writes Eoin English.

Dr Margot Bolster, the assistant state pathologist, confirmed the cause of Amy McCarthy’s death as an inquest into the 22-year-old’s death was opened and adjourned yesterday.
