After a bad start to July temperatures are set to reach 25 degrees over the weekend.

However. Met Éireann also predicts some showers in parts of Munster and Leinster tomorrow.

This evening is expected to be warm and dry and the best of the weather is forecast for Sunday.

Meteorologist with Met Eireann, Evelyn Cusack, says the muggy conditions are also here to stay.

"Temperatures are into the 20s this evening in places but only about 17 or 18 it's quite foggy in other areas… Quite warm and humid for the weekend."
