Let drivers who car pool use bus lanes, says AA
The Department of Transport is being urged to allow people who car pool apply to use bus lanes.
The AA said that it would help alleviate traffic congestion in our cities.
The call follows a fatal crash on Dublin's M50 last November which brought the capital to a standstill.
Conor Faughnan of the AA outlined how it would work.
"An individual who applies to the Local Authority lays out their morning commute and gets selected as an appropriate candidate for this, and then on a permanent basis gets issued with a sticker to display, front and rear," he said.
"If you're displaying that sticker, your permit is valid and you've got four people in the car, then you can be allowed to use the Quality Bus Corridor space."
