Government is urged to offer more guidance to young students

The Government is being urged to provide more dedicated career focused guidance to school goers.
Employers group IBEC has said this week's BT Young Scientist exhibition proves that Irish students have the potential to follow hugely successful careers.
However the body has said as things stand the system is failing both pupils and employers.
Spokesperson Conor Minogue is calling on the next Government to reform career guidance: “They have big decisions to make in quite a short space of time.
“Where they are going after school, whether it is college or picking a career. We want students to make solid, well informed decisions.
“One of the big benefits will be when students come on to college they know they have selected a course that is suitable for them, that is right for them and they can go and progress with confidence.”
