Orange alert withdrawn but flooding continues
The Government's emergency taskforce is warning that more homes and businesses will be flooded by the end of the day.
UP to 50 millimetres of rain is expected to fall in already water-logged counties following Storm Desmond last weekend.
Cork, Kerry and Clare are expected to be worst hit.
Met Éireann had put an Orange weather warning in place there, but that has since been removed.
A yellow alert applies in the rest of Munster, Connacht and Leinster, while in the North there has been snowfalls.
John Barry, Chairman of the National Emergency Coordination Group, has been speaking to FM104: “As the situation is evolving there was significant rainfall over night in many parts of the country and we are expecting and receiving reports of flooding on roads in a widespread way,
“Many roads are affected and we are anticipating there is potential, there also have been some homes affected overnight aswell,
“We are expecting there is potential for homes and businesses to be affected throughout the day possibly on an increasing basis.”
