Wexford woman tells how London Tube attacker was 'second away from stabbing' another woman

A Wexford woman has told of the moment she came face-to-face with the man at the centre of a London Underground station attack.

Eva Murphy says she thought she was going to be killed in the incident in Leytonstone Tube station.

It is reported the man repeatedly shouted "this is for Syria" during the incident.

A 29-year-old man remains in police custody after the attack.

Eva says she was moments away from him.

Ms Murphy said: "We just came face-to-face with him, and the four of us were there in front of him when a woman just happened to walk into the Tube station by us and that's when he went for her.

"She was just a second away from stabbing her in the neck, he went to stab her in the neck.

"We didn't realise what he was doing until he produced the knife, it was up his sleeve."
