Gardaí have arrested a man in connection with the theft of livestock worth more than €100,000 in Co Donegal.

The man in his 30s was detained in a planned Garda operation this morning, and is being held at Ballyshannon Garda Station.

The arrest is in connection with the theft of livestock from a farm in Kilbeggan in June this year.

The theft occurred between 9pm, June 24, and 1.15pm, June 25, from lands at Cornaher, Kilbeggan, Co Westmeath which is situated close to the N6, Old Dublin Road between Kilbeggan and Tyrrellspass.

Some 75 cattle and 25 sheep were taken during the incident.
