Deadly UK crash jet flew in Irish airshows this summer

It has emerged that the Hawker Hunter Jet which crashed in England at the weekend had taken part in a number of Irish airshows this summer.

The Irish Aviation Authority says the aircraft took part in Shannon, Bray and Foynes Air Displays over recent weeks.

The body said that it is closely monitoring the situation in the UK.

11 people are confirmed dead after the weekend's disaster - earlier the wreckage of the plane was removed from a roadway nearby the airshow site.

Assistant Chief Constable Steve Barry has given this update.

"I'm relieved to say that when the aircraft was removed and we examined the site immediately around it, no further victims were identified," said Constable Barry.

"So it remains the case that at this stage, we can say that 11 people are highly likely to be the victims of this crash, and we're in very close contact with those victim's families."
