Three teenagers arrested after knife attack on elderly taxi driver
Three teenagers have been arrested following two incidents in Athlone.
A taxi driver aged in his 70s was stabbed in the early hours of yesterday morning after picking up two males on Church Street in the town.
Then yesterday evening, three youths armed with a firearm and an iron bar threatened and assaulted a shop keeper aged in his 70s at a business on the Ballymahon Road.
Both men were released from hospital after treatment.
Gardaà say that during a follow-up operation today, three males aged in their late teens were arrested.
They are all being held at Athlone Garda station.
