IMO votes unanimously against Lansdowne Road Agreement

The Council of the Irish Medical Organisation has voted unanimously to recommend that its members reject the Lansdowne Road Agreement on public sector pay restoration.

The agreement will see public servants receive a 2-thousand euro in a pay increase over two years.

President of the IMO Dr Ray Walley says that the Government still refuses to address the fundamental principle of equal pay for equal work.

"As many people know we have a crisis in our health service. We have in excess of 300 consultant vacancies," said Dr Walley.

"We do not believe that this addresses the issue, whereby we cannot retain consultants, junior doctors, or attract new doctors from abroad."
