A major report on patient safety standards at the Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise will be published this morning.
It follows the deaths of five babies in similar circumstances at the hospital.
This report from the Health Information and Quality Authority is expected to heavily criticise the HSE.
It was ordered following an exposé on the deaths of five babies at Portlaoise Maternity hospital.
reports it will find that all levels of HSE and hospital management were aware of known patient safety risks at the hospital, but failed to act.
It is understood criticisms contained in a previously-leaked draft report remain, despite a threat by Director General of the HSE Tony O'Brien to injunct publication if changes were not made.
The 200 page document, which will be launched later this morning, has already been approved by the board of HIQA and has been sent to the Health Minister
