Scottish police thank Irish public for their messages following Karen Buckley search

The detective who led the investigation into the disappearance and murder of Irish student Karen Buckley has thanked members of the public here for their kind messages.

Over the past number of weeks Police Scotland has received a high number of letters and emails from members of the public here expressing their appreciation for the work carried out by the force.

Officers spent days searching urban and rural areas for the student from Cork.

Senior Investigating Officer Jim Kerr issued an open letter to say thanks to anyone who made contact with the force.

In it, he said it was much appreciated by him and the team of officers involved in the investigation.

The 24-year-old nurse from Cork went missing following a night out with her friends in Glasgow last month.

Four days later her body was found on a farm. A 21-year-old man, Alexander Pacteau, has been charged with her murder.
