FF calls on Minister for Transport to help prevent bus strikes
Fianna Fáil has today called on the Minister for Transport and the NTA to engage with unions in an effort to avoid industrial action by bus drivers.
Drivers Dublin Bus and Bus Éireann who are members of SIPTU have voted in favour of a strike after talks at the Labour Relations Commission broke down.
Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Transport Timmy Dooley said that disruption to the country's commuters can be avoided.
"If the appropriate intervention was made now by the Minister and the NTA, we could avoid a strike which can be so damaging to the economy, so damaging to the travelling public, and I think is unnecessary at this stage if the Government show good faith and try to resolve and meet the needs and concerns of the workforce in this particular instance," he said.
