Department of Social Protection decides to not increase rent supplements

The Department of Social Protection has reviewed rent supplements and decided not to increase them.

The review concluded that putting up the limits would lead to landlords increasing rents and that other tenants, such as low income workers and students, would be adversely affected.

The Simon Community has said it is extremely disappointed by the decision and added it will force more people into homelessness.
