Bose workers' union meet with Minister over job losses
SIPTU representatives are meeting with the Minister for Jobs and Enterprise this morning, to discuss the closure of the Bose plant in Co. Monaghan.
Yesterday an agreement was reached with management to delay the closure of the factory by two months, until June, while talks continue on redundancy terms and other issues.
It was announced last month that operations at the Carrickmacross plant would end, with the loss of around 140 jobs.
Industrial Organiser with SIPTU James McVeigh, said they plan to work with the Department of Jobs and Enterprise as well as Government agencies to identify alternative employment opportunities.
"The crucial issue for ourselves is … we need to use the next couple of months with the Government, with the IDA in particular, to try and see if we can find an investor who may be prepared to move into the site and take the plant over, and provide people with employment," he said.
