Met Éireann has issued a low temperature warning for Ireland tonight.

The warning took effect at noon and extends until 10am Monday morning. Temperatures of -1 to -5 degrees are expected across the country, though it will remain mostly dry.

The forecaster is warning that road surfaces and paths may become dangerous with an accumulation of ice.

There is also a warning that patches of freezing fog may develop.

Frost and fog are expected to remain in places tomorrow morning, with cloud accumulating during the day to bring rain, sleet and snow in the west. It will stay cold during the day, with temperatures between one and three degrees.

AA Roadwatch reported ice on several main routes and secondary roads this morning.
