Public toilet costing taxpayer €37,000 a year to maintain
Kildare County Council has confirmed that one of its public toilets is costing the taxpayer more than €37,000 a year to maintain.
Local Councillor Willie Crowley has called for the termination of a 20-year maintenance contract to maintain the facility in Newbridge.
He says over the course of the contract, the Council will have spent almost three-quarters of a million euro.
However, breaking the contract would cost the local authority €81,000.
