Man, 67, dies after collision with car while on his bicycle
A 67-year-old cyclist has died after a collision with a car in Co Mayo this morning.
The man was killed when he was struck by a car on a minor road at Knockakeery near the village of Aughagower at around 11.30am today.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and later removed to Mayo General Hospital.
The female driver of the car, who is aged in her 40s, did not require hospital treatment.
The road, which is around five miles from Westport, is closed to traffic and diversions are in place, while Garda forensics investigate the scene.
The local coroner has been notified.
