Survey finds record number of Ireland's towns clean 'to European Norms'

Ireland's towns and cities appear to be cleaning up their act on litter.

According to the latest survey from Irish Business Against Litter, a record 85% were clean "to European Norms" at the end of 2014.

Dublin's North Inner City has got a special mention for being 30% cleaner than earlier in the year.

Just one area has been branded a litter blackspot in the survey - that was Farranree on the northside of Cork city.

The Anti-Litter League survey of 40 towns and cities showed that more than 40% were cleaner than the European average, with only six areas falling short of “clean” status, among them Drogheda, Maynooth and Tallaght.
