Ireland's towns and cities appear to be cleaning up their act on litter.

Anti-litter campaigners have warned that the impending abolition of town councils could have a negative impact on the cleanliness of urban areas.

DUBLIN is more of a dirty old town than a fair city, with litter levels in the capital up to 12% higher than in the rest of the country, a new survey has found.
