Irish citizens advised to stay away from Sydney incident area
Irish citizens have been advised by the Consulate General of Ireland in Sydney to stay away from the city’s central business district over the ongoing hostage incident.
It is not known at this stage if there is any Irish person among the hostages.
Irish people in Sydney are also asked to review their personal security plans, remain aware of their surroundings and to monitor police updates.
The Consulate General also asked Irish in the area to “maintain a high level of vigilance.”
Due to the incident the public office of the Consulate General of Ireland in Sydney has been forced to close and will open again tomorrow at 10am local time.
