President Higgins to leave Ethiopia for second leg of Africa visit
President Michael D Higgins is starting the second leg of his state visit to Africa today.
He is leaving Ethiopia for Malawi before visiting South Africa on Thursday.
President Higgins' trip aims to expand Ireland's trade and development links with a number of key countries, as well as reinforce its commitment to serious concerns applicable to Africa, such as the Ebola crisis, food security and human rights.
Mr Higgins will meet with President of Malawi, Peter Mutharika before visiting a number of the projects implemented by Irish Aid and various Irish NGO's.
On Thursday, he will go to South Africa where he will give a number of keynote speeches, and have a bi-lateral meeting with president Jacob Zuma.
