Around 1,400 homes remain without power after overnight storms

Around 1,400 homes are still without power in the southeast of the country, following last night's severe weather.

A spokesman for ESB networks said engineers have been working all day to restore power to thousands of homes around the country who were left without electricity due to gale force winds bringing down power lines.
