Man to appear in court in connection with fatal Waterford stabbing
A man will appear in court in Waterford today charged in connection with a fatal stabbing on Friday night.
Maria O' Brien, 55, died after she was attacked at around 7pm in the grounds of St Otteran's psychiatric hospital, where she was a patient.
Another patient and staff member also suffered minor injuries.
The Gardaí and the HSE are carrying out separate investigations.
The 36 year old man charged in connection with the death was also a patient at St Otteran's. He will appear before a special sitting of Waterford District Court at 7.30pm this evening.
