Greyhound continuing with court case against employees as talks proceed

Greyhound Recycling claims a High Court order stopping protesters blockading bin trucks has been breached.

While talks to end the row over pay cuts got underway this morning, lawyers for the company were in court to proceed with contempt proceedings against a number of employees and local politician Gino Kenny, who appeared in court.

Greyhound claims there have been a number of breaches of last month's court order stopping protesters blockading bin lorries.

The case is due to be heard next Tuesday.

The director of Greyhound said today he hopes a deal to end the 12-week dispute at the company can be sealed today.

Michael Buckley said all matters, including controversial changes to pay and conditions, will be on the table for today’s talks at the Labour Relations Commission.

The workers are being represented by SIPTU deal-maker Owen Reidy, who took part in the talks which ended the strike threat at Irish Rail.
