Bail refused to man accused of stealing ATM

A man accused of stealing an ATM containing more than €124,000 from a bank in Co Sligo has been refused bail in the High Court.

Bernard Quigley was arrested after a digger ripped the cash machine from the wall of a Bank of Ireland branch in Tubbercurry last January.

The 42-year-old with an address at Branchfield, Drumfin, Co Sligo, is also charged with causing €25,000 worth of damage to the building.

Gardaí objected to bail because of the seriousness of the charges and the likely sentence if convicted.
