Bausch & Lomb announcement raises hopes of fewer redundancies

Trade unions are hoping that confirmation of a new investment at the Bausch & Lomb plant in Waterford may save some of the 200 planned redundancies there.

Staff recently agreed to the voluntary lay-offs and pay cuts for remaining workers in order to save the contact lens facility from closure.
