Man dies after Dublin stabbing

A forensic examination is underway at the scene of last night's fatal stabbing in Dublin city centre.
Gardaí believe the victim, a man in his 40s, was attacked after a row broke out inside a derelict building near the 02 arena – a disused pub on North Wall Quay.
The victim was one of a number of squatters taking shelter inside the building.
The alarm was raised just before 11 last night after a man covered in blood was spotted banging on the window of a tram at the nearby Luas stop.
A security guard called Gardaí, and the man was brought back to the scene of the crime where he was arrested and taken to Store Street Garda Station.
Investigating officers believe a fight broke out at around 10.45pm and this led to the man being stabbed to death.
The victim has been identified as a homeless Polish national and efforts are now being made to inform his family.
His death brings the number of violent killings in Ireland so far this year to 14.
Forensic experts are still at the scene of the man's death, and the body will be removed for a full post mortem once a preliminary exam is carried out.
