Man dies woman escapes as car crashes into lake

A man has died after a car crashed into a lake this morning.

A woman managed to escape unharmed after the car left the road and went into Grange Lake in Strokestown, Co Roscommon, just after midnight.

She alerted local residents who managed to remove the 37-year-old man died, but they were unable to resuscitate him and he was later pronounced dead.

Gardaí from Boyle are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

His body has been taken to Roscommon General Hospital for a post mortem.
