Government allegedly struck deal with Troika to 'spin' budget presentation
The Govenrment is reported to have struck a deal with the Troika to "spin" how the Budget was presented to the public.
That is according to a secret memo, seen by The Sunday Business Post.
It said that the "communications strategy" set out how the Budget would be sold as a €2.5 bn package of adjustments at home - while in Europe, it would be presented as €3.1bn.
Ministers were told that the lesser figure was being complemented by savings made by the NTMA's temporary withdrawal from debt markets.
