A 34-year-old man has been left in a critical condition following a hit and run in Dublin earlier today with Gardaí investigating whether he was deliberately targeted.

A 34-year-old man has been left in a critical condition following a hit and run in Dublin earlier today with Gardaí investigating whether he was deliberately targeted.

The incident happened at around 1pm this after when the man was struck by a car on Trinity Terrace at the back of Clonliffe Road on Dublin's northside.

He was taken to the Mater Hospital where he is said to be in a critical condition.

The car believed to have been involved was later found burnt out on Stoney Road in East Wall.

The victim is believed to be known to gardaí and it is understood he is currently on temporary release from prison.

Gardaí are now investigating whether the man was deliberately targeted.
