250 new jobs announced across country
250 new jobs have been announced across the country today.
A new Science and Engineering Initiative at the University of Limerick will see 225 roles being created.
150 construction staff will be needed to build the centre - with a further 75 long-term research and teaching positions due to come on stream once the centre is finished in 2015.
Meanwhile, an International engineering practice, Byrne Looby Partners' is to take on 25 new staff at its offices in Dublin, Galway, Cork and Belfast - to service its international customers.
The Vice President for Research, at the University of Limerick, Mary Shire said 'The Bernal Project’ aims to significantly improve Ireland's expertise in a number of areas.
"The areas that this project is going to focus on specifically are in the area of pharmaceutical engineering, biomedical engineering and energy," she said.
"So these jobs will be mixtures of post-graduate researchers, there will be a number of academic posts and the whole aim is to train these jobs up through these jobs here and transition them to industry."
