A murder investigation is underway after a man was shot outside his home in Clondalkin last night.

The 39-year-old was shot in the chest on Cherrywood Drive at around 10.30pm, and died in hospital a short time later.

A burning car, believed to be used in the killing, was found nearby just before 11pm.

Garda Superintendent David Taylor believes it may hold vital clues to finding the man’s killer.

"Gardaí are … interested in any person that may have seen this car - a small, four-door hatchback, burnt out, on Rock Road on the main Key to Lucan Road roughly after 10.30pm last night," he said.

Anyone with information on the vehicle is asked to contact Gardaí.
