Quinn asked to open Leitrim festival

One of the organisers of the Ballinamore Festival in Co Leitrim has been explaining why they chose bankrupt businessman Sean Quinn to officially open the event this weekend.

The one-time billionaire will launch proceedings in the town this Sunday.

Joey Smith said the businessman was a lifeline to the border areas of Fermanagh, Cavan and Leitrim down through the years by offering employment and sponsoring local GAA events.
