Dundon trial to receive accused's records from Passport Office

The passport office is to make available to the Special Criminal Court any particulars they have on file for murder accused John Dundon.

The 31-year-old of Hyde Road, Limerick, denies killing Garryowen rugby player Shane Geoghegan who was gunned down in the early hours of November 9th 2008 near his home in Dooradoyle.

He died from bullet wounds to his head and body.

The prosecution evidence has been that John Dundon ordered the killing, but that the 28-year-old victim was not the intended target.

Today the court was shown a temporary passport issued to Mr Dundon in August 2008.

His lawyers submit that he had another passport which was taken, and that it would have a huge bearing on the case in that it would show the accused man’s travel.

Prosecution lawyers say they are not aware of any other passport. The court has directed the passport office in Cork to make available any particulars on file relating to John Dundon.

Evidence in the trial has now resumed.
