New appeal on 15th anniversary of Deirdre Jacob's disappearance

Deirdre Jacob's father said it's never too late to come forward with information about his missing daughter.

Her parents, along with the Gardaí and Crimestoppers, have issued a renewed appeal for information about her disappearance in Kildare 15 years ago on Sunday.

Deirdre was 18 when she vanished from the side of the road near her home in Newbridge.

The trainee teacher had been visiting her Grandmother a short distance from her home.

Over the years, her case has been linked to other, high profile disappearances in the Kildare and Wicklow area, but her parents have never given up hope of finding her.

Members of the public are being asked to jog their memory about a black canvas CAT bag that Deirdre was carrying on the day she disappeared which has never been found.

Her father, Michael, said anything small about the July 28 1998 could be vital in solving the mystery of her disappearance.

We just hope that people will remember something," he said.

Her mother said they are no wiser about her whereabouts today than they were 15 years ago.
