Government urged to request extradition of former Anglo boss at centre of tapes scandal
Fianna Fáil is calling on the government to consider requesting the extradition of the former Chief Executive of Anglo Irish Bank from the US.
The party's Justice spokesperson, Niall Collins, said that David Drumm has questions to answer for the Irish taxpayer.
The call comes following the release this week of a series of tapes - published by the Irish Independent - which show that top bankers at Anglo deliberately misled the Central Bank on the cost of the bail out.
Deputy Collins also added that Fianna Fáil - as the government at the time of the banking collapse - will have no problem par-taking in a banking inquiry.
He said the questioning of David Drumm is central to any inquiry that may be held.
"I think what we have heard in the recent publication of the Anglo tapes is quite shocking and the public are rightly outraged," he said.
"The person at the centre of these tapes needs to return to Ireland to explain his position
"He is such a central player to the whole collapse of Anglo and to the whole banking crisis that this country experienced
