A search and rescue operaton was launched on Lough Derg this evening after rowers taking part in an international regatta encountered bad weather.

A search and rescue operaton was launched on Lough Derg this evening after rowers taking part in an international regatta encountered bad weather.

A spokesperson for Lough Derg RNLI said 18 five-person racing sculls were racing from Dromineer to Killaloe when inclement conditions were encountered near Parker's Point, forcing many into the water.
