Dublin prepares for Obamas' visit

The US First Lady Michelle Obama and her daughters will arrive in Dublin today for a two-day visit.

Michelle Obama apparently promised her daughters, Malia and Sasha, the last time she visited Ireland with the President Barack Obama in 2011, that she would bring them with her next time.

The First Lady and her daughters are due to fly into Dublin around 11am this morning, and they will visit Trinity College to explore her families' Irish ancestry.

She will also visit the 18th century long room and see the Book of Kells.

A statement from Trinity says they are very much looking forward to her visit, which will strengthen the university's relations with the US.

Mrs Obama and her children will also see a special performance of Riverdance at the Gaiety with the President's wife, Sabina Higgins, and Fionnuala Kenny, the wife of the Taoiseach.

Her visit will also take in Glendalough and the Wicklow Mountains National Park tomorrow.

It is rumoured that the First Lady might pop into a Dublin pub on her travels, but sources remain tight lipped about whether that is true, and if so, which one she will visit.
