A higher number people now think it is more acceptable to talk about emotional problems, according to a survey by the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

The survey shows that almost nine out of 10 people understand the importance of opening up when it comes to mental health.

The new research also shows that more than 86% of those questioned believe people might be happier if they talked to a counsellor or psychotherapist.
