Jury sent home in Adams child sex abuse trial

The child sex abuse trial of Liam Adams – brother of Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams – is due to resume on Monday.

A jury of six men and six women hearing the case at Belfast Crown Court was sent home today to allow legal arguments to take place.

Liam Adams (aged 57) from Bearnagh Drive in west Belfast, is accused of 10 counts of historic child sex abuse including rape, indecent assault and gross indecency against his eldest daughter Aine Adams between 1977 and 1983.

He has denied all charges against him.

The trial started on Tuesday last week.

Judge Corinne Philpott, deputy recorder of Belfast, told the jurors they were likely to resume hearing evidence on Monday.
