ASTI: Teachers 'won't be delighted to see' Minister
A number of delegates are threatening to walk-out during the Education Minister Ruairi Quinn's address to the Association of Secondary Teachers in Ireland annual meeting.
Mr Quinn was heckled at the Irish National Teachers Organisation conference in Cork this morning, while many of the 750 INTO delegates also held up red cards.
The Minister will address secondary teachers this evening in Wexford where anger is high over the revised Croke Park deal and junior cycle reform plans.
The ASTI General Secretary, Pat King, said his members will be making their feelings known to the Minister.
Mr King said: "I believe, I hope and trust he will get respectful treatment.
"They certainly won't be delighted to see him, because they have concerns about proposals coming from the Minister's government.
"I suspect the minister is well aware of this and he won’t be shocked or surprised, but I hope he will be treated with due decorum and respect."
